Introduction to Japanese printmaking

Engraving workshop to bring the students closer to the landscape through the vegetal observation and japanese printmaking (Tataki Zomé).

All vegetal materials in our surroundings can bring us colour! Through this workshop, students discover the origins of vegetal colours, and how the simplest of plants can be used as painting material. Colours can be extracted directly from plants, fruits and a few flowers that bloom before winter. Each colour is extracted by students pressing such materials against paper or cloth.

Workshop directed by artist Alèxia Lleonart, professor at Manresa Art School.

Objectives:

  • Gathering fruits, flowers and small plants.
  • Using leaves and fruits for printmaking.
  • Stamping on plants.
